Milo, 16.3 h 2021 TB Gelding by Bucherro. 10 starts at the track, owner was getting out of racing. He’s been at the farm for nearly two months and been let down, getting turned out and lightly restarted. Milo is laid back and easy going and definitely doesn’t want to try to get anywhere quickly (except maybe his dinner). He practically falls asleep on cross ties, is good to groom and tack, bathe (loves playing with the hose) and overall nice to live with. He stands politely at the mounting block and has been good ridden both in the field and arena. He’s a fairly brave and unbothered sort and doesn’t get worked up by the other horses. Milo has been schooling walk, trot, canter and been introduced to small fences.  He is the amateur special, big, quiet and uncomplicated.  He’s quite fancy on the flat and will let you ride him more forward or slow it down to play Hunter. Over fences he’s starting to show a lot of interest, locking onto the jumps and going in cute form. At this point he could go a number of directions, though I don’t see him having upper level aspirations - most of us aren’t getting there either.  Milo has no vices and is RRP eligible. No prep kinda guy, tack and go. He is shod up front and barefoot behind. He was a grumpy shark when he got here for good reason, his teeth were so sharp he had open sores in his mouth. We rode him in a halter due to this for his first few rides, which was very kind about. He was unsure about affection and being pet when he first came in but now is much more welcoming of attention from his people.  His attitude and demeanor overall has changed greatly in his time here and he improves every day both in the barn and under tack. I would like someone for him that is kind and patient but knows horses and will keep boundaries with him. He is five - he may try to bulge a little at the gate or be lazy. For that reason I wouldn’t recommend him for a timid rider, but if you’re capable of putting your leg on and correcting him when he asks “could I drift that way?” he’s quick to give it up. Milo is a horse with a lot of potential that’ll suit a lot of riders. He is eligible for the retired race horse project. He’s in a great spot now and ready to go any direction.  I’d like to find him a long term placement, rather than be a project for someone to move along down the road. I don’t think he had the easiest beginning and would like to do my best to ensure a nicer future because he’s a really nice guy and deserves it.
