Yes Point, “Charlie” in the barn is nothing but a class act. His connections bred and raced him through his career before landing here to find a slower paced job. He has no desire to go anywhere quickly and requests we find him the adult amateur that also enjoys going slow and telling him what a good boy he is! He raced at the end of September but walked off the trailer like he’s lived here his whole life. Charlie’s well mannered and a gentleman to have at the farm. He was well behaved for the farrier, stands well in the wash bay on crossties and was nice to tack. We’ve evaluated him both at liberty and under saddle. Charlie’s just a GOOD BOY. He’s a nice mover and showed good form in the jump chute. Under saddle he was simple, quiet and fun. Happy to work or walk - you decide. He’s the horse that most of us need. His second ride was even better than the first and we unlocked new parts of his movement and body. He happily started to stretch down and quietly went along on a loose rein while our outdoor arena construction was loudly under way. I don’t see him galloping down to advanced fences or headed to the olympics anytime soon just because that would be a lot of effort, but most of us aren’t either! If your goals are safety, fun and looking good doing it with mid level type aspirations (think gutsy kid or adult getting back into it) he might just be your guy.
Charlie had over two months of downtime to just be a horse and is now getting back into consistent work under saddle. He came back for his third ride right where he left off with no silly business after the time off. He’s learned to stand at the mounting block and is coming along nicely! He continues to be a steady solid safe and fun mount. He’s a confidence builder and fun horse to have in the barn, he’s been simple and a pleasure to ride. He’s nicely moves along without being hot or lazy while remaining pretty darn unflappable. No vices / known issues.
Charlie is RRP eligible and amateur friendly.
